June 2008 : Medium Wave

Sunday 8 June 2008: 1924 UTC: 756 kHz: BBC Radio Cumbria  Carlisle transmitter, live relay of Rokker Radio, programme for Gypsies and Travelling People, live from Appleby Horse Fair, presented by Jake Bowers. Interview with musician Catherine Ashcroft, regarding her live performance of her album 'Take Flight & Follow' on Fair Hill, Appleby. Interview with lady regarding the attitude of local authorities to gypsies and travelling people. Project called 'Education On The Hoof'. Appleby Horse Fair is the largest gathering of gypsy and travelling people in the world.
Rokker Radio is usually based in Luton and broadcast to the east & south of England.
Excellent to good reception.
Interview with a gentleman regarding the history of the fair. Interview with Landlord of the White Hart Hotel, Boroughgate, Appleby-in-Westmorland.
