• 27 December: 2114 UTC: 810 kHz: BBC Radio Scotland  "The unmistakable sound of" Pipe bands.
  Good to fair reception. Most likely via Westerglen, Stirlingshire. 100 kW.

• 27 December: 2140 UTC: 837 kHz: BBC Radio Cumbria  'BBC Introducing' on BBC Radio Cumbria, "with an awesome signal!"
  Excellent to fair reception via Barrow in Furness, 1 kW.
  Nell Dunn with 'BBC Introducing', in conversation with a band. The band chooses to hear 'Tiny Dancer' by Elton John.
  ("Elton John will be performing at the Westmorland Showground, Kendal, in the summer of 2015")
  Co-channel interference.

• 27 December: 2206 UTC: 855 kHz: RNE 1  Fair reception of speech by two males in Spanish - RNE 1, possibly Murcia, Spain (RNE is Radio Nacionale de España). Music.
  Excellent to fair reception.

  Previous logs include 300 kW via Murcia.
  Postal verification (re: 14 May 2010) indicates address as La Olma 27-29  30005  Murcia (Spain).

Female with a link, followed by The Temptations 'Papa Was A Rolling Stone'.
  Excellent to good reception, 300 kW ? via Paris (presumed).

  Excellent to good reception, could be 100 kW via Washford (Somerset), 10 kW via Penmon, 5 kW via Tywyn. I'd say 100 kW.
  'One hit wonder: Junior Senior'. Final track: 'Tomorrow Never Knows' from 'Revolver' The Beatles.
  'Christmas Mixtape' now at an end. New presenter. Music: Kate Bush.

THIS FINAL post of 2014 brings details of the evening of Saturday 27 December, which I spent tuning the medium wave band of my radio and here is what I heard (All times are UTC / GMT, frequencies in kHz [kiloHertz], power in kiloWatt [kW] ):

• 2028 UTC, 756 kHz, BBC Radio Cumbria, 1 kW via Brisco, Carlisle. Moderate reception. 'BBC Introducing' with Nell Dunn. To 2036 UTC.
• 2114 UTC, 810 kHz, BBC Scotland, 100 kW via Westerglen, Stirlingshire. Good to moderate reception. The best pipe bands of 2014. To 2123 UTC.
• 2140 UTC, 837 kHz, BBC Radio Cumbria, 1 kW via Barrow in Furness. Strong to moderate reception. 'BBC Introducing' with Nell Dunn - Music from Elton John. To 2150.
• 2206 UTC, 855 kHz, Radio Nacional de Espana, 300 kW via Murcia, Spain. Strong to moderate reception. RNE-1 with male host, speech and music. To 2227 UTC.
