WELCOME to the latest round-up of what I heard on the wireless, during April and early May 2011. I spent the evening of 26 April listening to the Medium Wave band; the evening of 4 May listening to the Short Wave band. As always, times in UTC (GMT) ; frequencies in kHz (kiloHertz) :

26 April 2011 - Medium Wave :

• 2040 - 2110 UTC, 801 kHz : Bayern Plus, Munich, Germany. 100 kW (kiloWatt) transmission. Music including Glenn Campbell 'The Wichita Lineman', Roy Orbison 'You Got It'. World News update at 2100 UTC.
• 2115 - 2127 UTC, 810 kHz : BBC Radio Scotland, North or Central Scotland transmitter, 100 kW transmission. Political discussion programme regarding elections in Scotland.
• 2140 - 2158 UTC, 828 kHz : Radio 10 Gold, Holland. Music including Norah Jones, Michael Macdonald, Jon Secada, Chris Rea, The Cars, Katie Melua.

4 May 2011 - Short Wave :

• 1950 - 2010 UTC, 15610 kHz : WEWN Global Catholic Radio, Birmingham, Alabama, USA. English to the Middle East. 'Openline' programme, also to Asia after 20:00 UTC.
• 2024 UTC, 15630 kHz : Voice of Greece, 100 kW transmission. Spanish language broadcast.
• 2030 UTC, 15695 kHz : WYFR Family Radio, Okeechobee, Florida, USA. 100 kW transmission. German language transmission.
• 2035 - 2050 UTC, 15825 kHz : WWCR, Nashville, Tennessee, USA. WWCR-1 English to Europe, Middle East, America. 'The Pat Boone Show'.
• 21:11 UTC, 17560 kHz : Radio Havana Cuba, 100 kW transmission. Spanish language broadcast.
• 21:17 UTC, 17595 kHz : Radio Exterior de Espana, Portuguese to South America. 350 kW transmission.
• 2125 - 2128 UTC, 17605 kHz : Radio Nederland Wereldomroep, Dutch to South America. 250 kW via Bonaire transmitter.
