June 2006 : Shortwave

  • 25 June [2006]: 1941 UTC: 6035 kHz: Radio Netherlands Excellent to good reception. Dutch to West Europe via Flevo, 500 kW transmission. World Cup football: Netherlands 0 - Portugal 1. Half time discussion between commentators and summarisers.
July 2006 : Shortwave

  • 31 July: 1832 UTC: 3955 kHz: WYFR Family Radio Excellent reception. English to Europe and Middle East via Skelton. 'The Sound of the New Life' : 'Open Forum' with Harold Camping.
  • 31 July: 1850 UTC: 3965 kHz: Radio Taiwan International Excellent to fair reception. English to Europe via Issoudun, France (TDF). "Today's English language programme has been cancelled due to technical difficulties. We hope to bring our normal programme tomorrow". Music; Off suddenly at 1855 UTC.
  • 31 July: 1908 UTC: 3975 kHz: Radio Budapest Excellent to fair reception. English to Europe. 'Hungary Today' female host. 'Press Review'. Sport programme: Swimming, Tennis.

August 2005: Shortwave

  • 17 August [2005]: 2035 UTC: 3955 kHz: KBS World Radio Excellent to good reception. German via Skelton. Lessons for speaking the Korean language. Female host, music and speech.
  • 17 August: 2102 UTC: 3975 kHz: Radio Budapest Excellent to good reception. ID in various languages, programme in Spanish.
  • 17 August: 2124 UTC: 4800 kHz: CNR - 1 China. Good to fair reception. Male host speaking in the Chinese language.
A short posting, but I hope, an example of what has been heard on what is known as the 'Tropical Band' of Shortwave Radio.
