Season 2021/22: The Trophies, Promotions and Relegations

 

HERE are the placings that matter throughout the divisions, as well as the teams that lifted the trophies in Season 2021/22:

Premier League:
Champions: Manchester City (Trophy Lift above)
Relegated: Norwich City, Watford, Burnley.

EFL Championship:
Champions: Fulham
Promoted: Bournemouth
Play-Off Winners: Nottingham Forest
Relegated: Peterborough United, Derby County, Barnsley.


EFL League One:
Champions: Wigan Athletic
Promoted: Rotherham United
Play-Off Winners: Sunderland (Trophy presentation above)
Relegated: Gillingham, Doncaster Rovers, AFC Wimbledon, Crewe Alexandra.

EFL League Two:
Champions: Forest Green Rovers
Promoted: Exeter City and Bristol Rovers
Play-Off Winners: Port Vale
(Carlisle United finished 20th; Barrow finished 22nd)

Season 2020/21: The Trophy Lifts, Promotions and Relegations

 

HERE are the placings that matter throughout the divisions, as well as the teams that lifted the trophies in Season 2020/21:

Premier League:
Champions: Manchester City (Trophy Lift above)
Relegated: Sheffield United, West Bromwich Albion and Fulham.

EFL Championship:
Champions: Norwich City
Promoted: Watford
Play-Off Winners: Brentford
Relegated: Rotherham United, Sheffield Wednesday and Wycombe Wanderers.


EFL League One:
Champions: Hull City (Trophy Lift above)
Promoted: Peterborough United
Play-Off Winners: Blackpool
Relegated: Swindon Town, Bristol Rovers, Northampton Town and Rochdale.

EFL League Two:
Champions: Cheltenham Town
Promoted: Cambridge United (pictured below) and Bolton Wanderers
Play-Off Winners: Morecambe

There are no relegations from the National League, as Macclesfield Town were expelled and Dover Athletic had their results expunged.

It's Coming Home! (Domestic football, that is)

FOLLOWING England men's greatest World Cup achievement since the previous semi final in 1990, the pre-season friendlies in domestic football have taken place and, for Carlisle United, they are now complete and it is time to focus on Season 2018/19. Reporting From The Fox Tower will be keeping you up to date with Carlisle United - The Blues - Bringing you the fixtures and results, starting right here, with the fixtures for August.

AUGUST 2018
Saturday 4th: EFL League Two: Exeter City v United (3pm)

Season 2017/18: The Season So Far - Part 9

"IT is most likely the next post (Part 9) will follow the fixture on May 5th. Who knows what the above fixtures will bring...!"

The above quote was the final line of Part 8, published on the evening of Easter Saturday (March 31). Carlisle United Football Club's final fixtures have been played, so let's see what those fixtures would bring.

April 2018: Results

Monday 2nd: League Two: United 0 - Lincoln City 1
Saturday 7th: League Two: Swindon Town 0 - United 0
Saturday 14th: League Two: Morecambe 1 - United 1
Saturday 21st: League Two: United 1 - Luton Town 1
Saturday 28th: League Two: Port Vale 1 - United 2

May 2018: Results

Saturday 5th: League Two: United 1 - Newport County 1


The forty-six League fixtures have been completed - Here is the final League Two table:


Carlisle United Football Club finish the League season on 67 points, with a goal difference of +8. The Blues are tenth in the table following the final fixture.


One other story to bring from the close of the season is that of the announcement by the manager, Mr Keith Curle, that he is now moving on to seek out new challenges, after three and three-quarter years at Brunton Park. Season 2016/17: The Ups and Downs

THE 2016 - 2017 Football season has finally come to a close, with the UEFA Champions League Final in Cardiff on Saturday evening.  Here are the placings that matter throughout the divisions, as well as the teams that lifted the trophies this season:

Premier League:
Champions: Chelsea (pictured above)
Relegated: Hull City, Middlesbrough and Sunderland.

EFL Championship:
Champions: Newcastle United
Promoted: Brighton and Hove Albion
Play-Off Winners: Huddersfield Town
Relegated: Blackburn Rovers, Wigan Athletic and Rotherham United.


EFL League One:
Champions: Sheffield United (pictured above)
Promoted: Bolton Wanderers
Play-Off Winners: Millwall
Relegated: Port Vale, Swindon Town, Coventry City and Chesterfield.

EFL League Two:
Champions: Portsmouth
Promoted: Plymouth Argyle and Doncaster Rovers (pictured below)
