Season 2016/17: The Ups and Downs

THE 2016 - 2017 Football season has finally come to a close, with the UEFA Champions League Final in Cardiff on Saturday evening.  Here are the placings that matter throughout the divisions, as well as the teams that lifted the trophies this season:

Premier League:
Champions: Chelsea (pictured above)
Relegated: Hull City, Middlesbrough and Sunderland.

EFL Championship:
Champions: Newcastle United
Promoted: Brighton and Hove Albion
Play-Off Winners: Huddersfield Town
Relegated: Blackburn Rovers, Wigan Athletic and Rotherham United.


EFL League One:
Champions: Sheffield United (pictured above)
Promoted: Bolton Wanderers
Play-Off Winners: Millwall
Relegated: Port Vale, Swindon Town, Coventry City and Chesterfield.

EFL League Two:
Champions: Portsmouth
Promoted: Plymouth Argyle and Doncaster Rovers (pictured below)
Play-Off Winners: Blackpool
(Carlisle United finished 6th; Losing on aggregate to Exeter City in the Play-Off Semi-Finals)
Relegated: Hartlepool United and Leyton Orient.

National League:
Champions: Lincoln City
Promoted via Play-Offs: Forest Green Rovers
(Barrow finished 7th)
Relegated: York City, Braintree Town, Southport and North Ferriby United.
